Stigma of a Cat

Well, this picture is not perfect.  I have to question if it is supposed to be, because I get mixed readings on that.  For starts, it is a crow, not a raven.  This lyric first jumped into my head yesterday, and while the initial rhyme is open to interpretation, I have a certain idea in mind, particularly to encourage a persistent, calm mood and attitude: for understanding behavior (including our own).

Things are not always what they seem to be.  Depression, anxiety, mania and stigma can revert to a calm mood – and healthy understanding, when we ground ourselves, and simply take a slightly different perspective. To do this, often we must ground our decisions about events, people and mental health in the most concrete way we can find.  Make it available.  Do research if necessary. Find out what we can.  From one angle, life can be depressing or bring unreal, anxious, condemning thoughts.  From a perspective grounded in another way – away from negative judgement, we can find calm – even peace.  The thing is: sometimes the most unexpected truths will change our perspective on events and personalities.  Often these truths are quite available.  They may even present themselves.  These details, can be observed when we stretch out.  They can be described by science (sometimes found on google!) and also just by asking another person.

Diversify our perspectives, and find peace in the truths that exist in life and nature. Sometimes these truths are just a slight stretch out of our reach.  We just have to look, and listen hard enough.  Feel the big picture, or identify the details that can help us have a calm, optimistic attitude.  The animals here represent parts of the human spirit, and also the very creatures that exist.

Volatile smile that makes us wild,

Raven flies over all those miles,

Fast cat catches up to the light,

Smile again when we feel alright,

Reason for moods can be as plain as day,

Other times they are hidden far away,

Sometimes the truth is really out of sight,

The cat chased the raven into the night,

Here’s the point, with no intentional guile,

To explain the facts behind this strange style,

If you stay calm you’ll gain the best insight,

Find understanding when the time is right,

These things that happen may seem to be planned,

When stars line up, it’s not a slight of hand,

Events in our life, all the things we say,

Are sure to be lined up in this same way,

Wake up to see the cat beside feathers,

Patience for truth is in need of tethers,

Mystic bird breaks free of the night and day,

Mocks the cat and stigma has gone away

This is a living document on this website.  Updates are most likely to occur within the next month.  I post this today, as it is fresh, but I may like to improve it as I continue to think on these topics.  Happy New Year!  Hope you find health and peace.

Enhancing Moods

guitar photo

I did not get entirely involved in the Rock and Roll mission, but I love the music a tonne. Blues music, metal has helped me too.

Phones and bones and cheap colognes,

Cars and bars and starlight,

Tones, the jones and sweet unknowns,

Mars is ours, no bar-fight,

In life we sometimes may take a big chance,

Goes well for as long as I’m in a trance,

Energy to enhance ways we stay real,

In all of life, romance and passion to feel,

Signs, fine lines and love that shines,

Tints, eye-glints and flirting,

Spines, soft pines and truth combines,

Mints and hints and sure things,

In life sometimes I have just jumped too soon,

Put it all on the line – over the moon,

Fallen through clouds when I’ve been played the fool,

Left in the desert, my shadow is cool,

Looking for miles, barren landscape is there,

Unlimited time forever we share,

But just sometimes, I’d been caught in a snare,

When courage failed, my connections were rare,

Too soon, too late, over-anticipate,

But in time I think it’s all worked out fair,

Rays, good days and love that stays,

Sand, and tans worth planning,

Praise, eyes glazed and truthful ways,

Glance and stance still standing,

Courage carries and connections that care,

All of our lives we have found they are there,

And in good times, we are surly aware,

To celebrate the moments that we share,

So quick, so slow, see how far it can go,

The truth’s absolutely all I can bare,

Truth and couth and photo booths,

Friends and trends and dancing,

Moves and grooves and love that soothes,

Ends and bends advancing,

Shows and pros and night that glows,

Moods and broods are steady,

Crows and lows, the way it goes,

Blues and news, I’m ready

Mood: Balance through mindfulness

Ya…  Mindfulness can be a challenge when what you are doing is in some way horrible.  I hate to think of the different nastiness that a person can go through.  Real pain or disgust is hard to bury with thought, but through practice like meditation:  it is possible to some degree.  In this case, I suggest relying on the promise of that ‘cup of water’ to quench thirst, or some moment of content.  Looking to a conversation with a friend or a view of the mountains, lake or even trees in the big city could help many people.  Humour is GREAT.  To see the humour in things may in fact outweigh many other types of mindfulness.   If that is not available, sometimes the imagination can be a great get-away:  picturing what we want to picture.  We can reach this through a memory, a potential future or even a fantasy.  Mindfulness of the present is most often described as the answer, but other forms of mindfulness (eg. A memory, something to look forward to, or a fantasy) can also bridge that time that is difficult to endure.

I feel a bit lazy to be drawing on my past lyrics for some of my blogs, but I am making sure to spend time on fresh ones, like yesterday…  This below – was written a few years ago.

Pointing at it, pouring into it,

Biding my time.

Thinking of it, yearning for it,

Biding my time.

Push … Push …No answers, No escape. Where will I go?

Will I ever advance to a thoughtful path?

Quiet decision and Then,

The calm nirvana surrounds my universe.

Permeates my consciousness.

Will I be here for long?  Will it be here for long?

Will I come back soon?  Will I falter?

My world is protected on all sides,

Calm fulfilling energy, Peaceful train of thoughts travels to different corners of my mind,

 Chorus:           The future, the past.

Investigating all that is present, on the journey.

                        How will it continue?

What is next, and will it be safe?

Stay peaceful, if you are strong, smart and modest enough.

Still peaceful – considerate,

Bold.  Pervasive.  Thirst for knowledge.

Drinking from it, drowning in it,

Biding my time,

Striving for it, Straying from it,

Biding my time,

Reach …   Reach . . . No answers, No release, Where will I go,

Will I ever advance from this thoughtless mood?

Loud intrusion and then

Vile anxiety surrounds my universe,

Permeates my consciousness

Will I be here for long?  Will it be here much longer?

Will I leave here soon?

Will I escape?

My world is closing in on all sides,

Leave Now, Fearful train of thoughts travels to different corners of my mind,

Steam rises of the distant stress, Here we go again- another test.

Come take the test.

What is the test?  Maybe balance – the ability to focus: find content.  We all go through it.  Nirvana…  Is it a myth??  A band – Yup.  Part of everyday life for people – I hope so, even for a few moments.   I’m not going to look up the definition.  I just trust that it involves great balance and content.  In this life- I would suggest that if it does exist: for most people it is temporary.  I’m not talking levitating or anything like that.  I’m talking: a cup of water when you’re thirsty, a beautiful sunset, a great conversation, a great tune in a enjoyable environment.  Hmmm.  What else is purely pleasurable?  An A1 mood.  The ability to shut everything negative out through mindfulness?  Enlightenment??  Really??   How complex could it be? I am watering down a very complex and revered concept.  Please add a comment, so I can offer a defense.
