The Least We Can Do (Find Peace of Mind)

I’m leaning on the future

Like a pool cue on the table

To find peace of mind

We can’t be on the ropes

It helps to have a calm world

Combinations when we’re able

To find peace of mind

We must work on how to cope

Chalk up every effort

And cover all the angles

At least what we can

For the time we can devote

*

I’m sticking with the past

Like an over-used label

To find peace of mind

We can’t gripe and mope

It helps to find a calm world

And remain completely stable

To find peace of mind

We must develop hope

Make a name for ourselves

Don’t lose much time idle

At least do what we can

With contributions to promote

*

No one has the time of day

To be missing any

But this is what they ask of you

To spend lifetimes fot a penny

Seconds of peace are few and far between

But should be way past many

These hours we need

To live well and dream

Best to share so we all get plenty

And not be missing any

It’s the least that we can do

*

I’m focused on the present

Like an unfolding fable

To find peace of mind

We can’t think we’re woke

It helps to make a calm world

Keep up to accounts payable

To find peace of mind

We must broaden our scope

Keep an eye on fantasy

Yet practical life cradle

At least do what we can

To help float our only boat
