THE ICE AGE
I have many
Clear reasons why,
I am left out in the cold, still smiling,
But I am sure that you do not have time,
To hear them all. After all: it is cold,
………………………………………………….
To give you just
A hint of why,
I freeze so solid, over-taken by,
Feelings of iciness and solitude,
I will break the ice to explain to you:
…………………………………………………..
I am guided
Most surely by
A much different goal, and mood than many,
Like most: the ghost, the god(s), but not the penny,
Spirit fast or slow, it’s all that I know,
…………………………………………………….
I have much to
Still think about,
That can make day-to-day trials so plain,
Love the days with work, healthy with no strain,
I feel at sometimes I fall steps behind,
…………………………………………………….
And left to chill
I thought too long,
Tried to meet social norms and protection,
Cared too much, maybe strived for perfection,
Almost always good, not what really could,
……………………………………………………………
Be to get through,
And to connect
With those of you, one of you, the ones who,
Bring me to warmth past this icy threshold,
In company, or isolation cold,
…………………………………………
I am frozen
Because I care
More about the truth, if it has more use,
Than each social front that may go against
Values and love . . . I smile to reduce angst,
…………………………………………………………….
Or just because,
I am happy,
To strive to prove love, warm light from above,
Cool meanings inside, my friend does confide,
May be out in the cold, but my answers are bold
For those opposed: Please comment.
(or in agreement, questions? – any comment would be nice)
I like honesty. It is an undervalued trait. It is unusual that we have to fight to be true, and that being truthful can also create great conflict. Sometimes: expression of the truth in inappropriate. In some business, or social interaction it is NOT cool to bring up truth. I mean: use common sense, but clearly it is not appropriate to blurt out something that offends or affects another person or party negatively – no matter how true it is.
Truth of the matter is: I have run into problems at times because I am being true to myself. I am glad to take on and follow through on all my important responsibilities. I have run large construction projects, taken on new volunteer work and kept a family normally happy and healthy. I work hard. We need to contribute, but it is also our responsibility to take care of our own interests and health as well. Lying to be part of a malfunctioning system is not healthy for me. We will see if being more blunt will have a better effect.
This poem is a bit more dramatic maybe than it needs to be, but the main idea is strong and real.
