I’m a day late and a dollar short
So many of us could use more support
Some just to survive
Or begin to make
Our world get so much better
Mental Health doesn’t just come off a shelf
Yet to find good help
We often need wealth
I see that to live good lives
Books and medicine can be
Exclusively clever
*
Ironic we call it, “A wealth of knowledge”
Because we study
And did college
And live with such crime
All of the time
Ignorance causing
Poverty
Illness is judged
by those with a grudge
And not many budge
or take a fair nudge
To save hard case lives
And lend resources to stop
Costly misery
*
No fault but your own yet
You blame us for mistakes
You say that you’ve grown
But your inclusion is fake
How can we get through
All the anger and hate?
When you’re mad at the poor
Their contribution you negate
To be human and have feelings
Has to be more than enough
But easing pain to you is not priority “stuff”
*
You’re a day late and a dollar short
So many of us could use more support
Some just to survive
Or begin to make
Our world get so much better
Mental Health doesn’t
Have a fixed price
Yet to find good advice
We can’t roll the dice
I see that to live good lives
Money and planning can be
A great measure
*
Self-serving, why suggest
“Money can’t buy happiness?”
As we work all days
Without rest
Face dirt and grime
All of the time
Striving to get past
Poverty
Food has a cost
Clothes and shelter are lost
If dollars not tossed
To you by your boss
To help get through life
And provide resources to bring
Ringing success
*
Where’s the reason?
You blame us for mistakes
And imply that it’s treason
But your evidence is fake
How can we prove
Our contributions are great
When you are mad at workers
Who don’t even get a living rate?
To be human and have our own needs
Has to be more than enough
But your “fair” sharing of resources is a
Cruel bluff
