Make It All About You

I have done some writing in the last couple of days, but have not posted it.

This poem started with a Halloween theme but took another direction.

Picture: Late blooming dahlia.

Make It All About You

What about the other life that no one ever talks about?
*
The details that hide that we often live without
*
Economy
It is always on me
*
We always work long days
We may come home as zombies
Each day people want me
Some ghosts still haunt me
All of the time
*
Honouring life
We can’t do the wrong thing
We must stay strong in
every way that matters
all of the time
*
We may have been down on the ground
I am still a stand up guy
Until I am in the ground
Or I have lost my mind
*
Two eyeballs in my head
One squishy brain drives
The energy will never be dead
We will always survive
*
Time may seek to destroy us
in more than one way
But no matter what passes
There is an inscription on the day
Stand your ground
Be proud
Don’t go away
*
If you read between the lines
You understand that
we can not always
take things at face value
But sometimes it does make sense
*
Decide
This is how we begin
Feeling comfortable in our own skin
*
The inscription on my day says
Stand your ground
Don’t go away
*
If you read between the lines
You comprehend that
you should not always
Make it all about you
Although sometimes we have to
It is what gets us through

Make it all about you
