Please Just Be Alright

First, words alone can not repair the damage that was done, and continues to be inflicted on indigenous culture. I respect efforts to make a difference. and I also try to do that.

Token efforts are abundant. At least I have intentions to help, partly with words; as well I support indigenous youth in my support work position. ☮️&♥️

In some contrast, I am writing this on two planes, first from Abbotsford to Calgary and now Calgary to Waterloo.

The words were written outside of the causes mentioned, but they also apply directly, as a wish towards a daunting goal. It is not possible to just be okay, but we can work towards it. This is a wish.

“Please just be alright.”

I wrote that one line down the other day, during wishful, urgent thinking. Then I developed the poem around it.

Now a vacation of sorts; some important visits too. The poem is not specifically for this time, but I think that it can apply at any time.

Please Just dBe Alright

It is a hard world
It can be so tough
to make our way
every day
Please just be alright
*
It is our life
We do what we can
to defy fate
every day
Please let’s be alright
*
Every day we rise to the challenge
We have to balance
To be alright
*
Every day we get down to business
We have to win this
daily contest
to keep us honest
Summon all of our might
We hope for a fair fight
this time
so that
it will be alright
*
Here and now
and in the future
we keep the view pure

if we know just how
to find the light
*
It is a rough time
It can be too much
Let’s have our say
Everyday
Let us make it right
*
It is a hard world
It can be so tough
to make our way
every day
Please just be alright
