I just wrote this poem and note.
This is about daily life and choices, like choices in beverages…. What is good for some people might not be good for others. These choices are important.
It is important to consider health, and how our choices affect our health.
Sometimes choices that improve our quality of life, through enjoyment can help our mental health (and then also, our physical health in a roundabout way, even if the initial impact may not seem physically healthy in other ways).
Other times, enjoyment might sacrifice physical health (and then also, our mental health may follow).
It is helpful to stay aware that physical health is deeply connected with mental health. We should aim to make choices that create the best balance.
I like to put quality of life, physical and mental health as top priorities. Sometimes the balance is not as obvious as it appears.
Good for Me
I drink black coffee
I don’t like it too hot
I will drink it cold
If that’s all that I’ve got
*
Daily tasks are handled
My schedule is managed
*
Driving or arrived
Time is always happening
*
The day or
The night
*
Just being alive
*
I aim for the weekend
And get the job done
I reach for my life goals
Relax and have fun
*
We work for good times
Please share them too
They happen often
When we get through
The week, the day, the hours
and our challenges
When we make dreams
Some battles can be so intense
*
Sometimes just a grind
But we get through alright
When we fight the fight
Heart and soul
Out of sight
*
In the day to day
And when it turns to night
Find ways to stay cool
We can always stay tight
*
Kind of like my belt
Like my economy
When pressure is felt
I react and breathe
*
I won’t let it hurt
Comfy like blue jeans
Mostly wear t-shirts
Every day they start clean
*
I prefer to seem sharp
Not dull rather smart
These urges don’t hide
When it turns to night
The moon reflects
The sun is bright
We are all different
But the same in one light
*
Made of water
Human gears
Live our lives
Blood, sweat and tears
*
We all have a heart
We each have our own mind
But we share them both
Every single time
*
We must drink up drinks
Water each day, all year
Balancing our health
Is more than it appears
*
Quality of life
Like enjoyment and cheer
Adds to physical health
Keeping mental health clear
*
We each make choices
We have different lives here
With different bodies
Critical how we steer
*
What is good for me
might not be good for you
It is plain to see
The reverse holds true too
*
For many choices
I look in the mirror
I love coffee black
Sometimes cold pop or beer
