Don’t Look Down

I have my feet firmly planted

Then I get taken for granted

So hard they try to uproot me

I’m telling them

That doesn’t suit me

People look down on me

Try to make it seem

like I do nothing

Cut me down to size

While I work full time

Speaking my mind

I think that’s something

Why don’t they open their eyes?

*

So many times that I have ranted

The view they have

Grows more slanted

Calmly they ignore and mute me

I’m telling them

That can’t refute me

People look down on us

Try to make it seem

like we do nothing

Cut us down to size

While we work all the time

And speak our mind

I think that’s something

It’s not that they are blind

*

My presentation

Generalization

Not targeting anyone

For a lifetime they say

We can’t all get ahead

Well can we

As we move around the sun?

If we had understanding

A push and pull

Then hold still

And start doing way more planning

Plan how to make progress

Create together more safe spaces

Connect for all of us give and take

To cover all the bases

*

If I seem to be enchanted

Then please use it to your advantage

They do not have to shoot me

For telling them

That can recruit me

People look down on you

Try to make it seem

like you do nothing

Cut you down to size

While you work overtime

And speak your mind

I think that’s something

Life’s more fair with a shared design
