Hope what we want

We could still share the wealth

As we fight to stay above water

cold as ice

Or too hot and getting hotter

I picture that we all get along

Like in some science-fiction movie

All connected to what we want

A world that feels so soothing

Then the monster rears it’s head

But just for our private viewing

Seems now our nerves

are all shot

And the scene ends in ruins

What else should we be doing?

The proximity to healing is either

What should we be doing?

They are humans unaware

We are every living creature

And the river’s undertow

They hide behind walls

Like I do myself

We work hard for our living

They just want more wealth

I’m denied when I crawl

But they are beaten down and broken

It’s so convenient that the system

sets back loving words spoken

Brush us off

we are all a nuisance

With feelings and soul

I honestly sense

Karma’s patience grows old

I’ve been here before

It’s a lovely place

It is freedom’s shore

People were killed so you could be born

And many still suffer because of our scorn

We have a hard world

But our worlds is not torn

Like so many before us

Covered in orange

A snake in the grass

And I’ll take a hard pass

The country we “found”

Has forests and mountains

Will humanity rebound?

They don’t notice the lies being told

Or the souls that are sold

Some find protection

Being mean, wearing a frown

They may ignore completely

Or stay above and push down

They are being too cold

But some don’t even know

While they’ve been told

Think they are fast

They think that they are “in the fold”

The instinct to care

Support all life on Earth

All creatures, all humans

Cast aside pretenses that hurt

The light would not leave

So why would we fight

Why shade humanity’s charm?

I sure don’t like a storm cloud

Breathing over my warm shoulder

Threatening my peace

Making days feel so much colder

So I turn around to face it

It makes the sun look truly golder

The terrible winds

Fade fast

The once threatening clouds

storm

as I have gotten older

Like I aim to respect each person

Each creature

Each tree and rock

It pays to respect everything

It shouldn’t come as a shock

It’s how we get past storms

And any kind of weather

It’s how we get through challenges 

And create a better world together
