Clouds swarm the horizon

While I writhe

Beneath the sea

I’m in a stormy dream

That only I have eyes on

Deepest darkest fears

A crow reaches my ears

My eyes flutter open

Into this new sky’s dawn

No way to forget the night’s long

And hidden turmoil

Until the Raven’s cry’s done

Black thunder clouds roll by

Forgotten riverbeds are dry

Or take these words

Out of context

Best to take them

with a grain of salt

That’s just being honest

I can dispense it

No need for apprehension

against my language

Of blood, sweat and tears

It’s not my fault

it’s offensive to your senses

The iron between us lasts

All the years

With many days

I raise hell for this place

But it doesn’t mean a thing

When summer has

Come and gone

We still love what it brought us

Never cold for a moment

Unless inside

Some AC caught us

We cling to the sunflower

Better than ice cream

that I bought us

Just to look and see

The growing green

The yellow petals

And face there is a lot of

It’s Fall now

Not as hot as our Summer dreams

When Autumn has

Come and gone

We still love what it brought us

Never bored for a moment

Unless inside

A dull school taught us

We cling to Halloween

Better with candy

The wicked sheen

The orange pumpkins

It can’t rot

When Winter has

Come and gone

We still love what it brought us

Never too hot for a moment

A yuletide fire caught us

We cling to Xmas time

Presents red and green

that I bought us

Just to look and see

The child’s gleam

In their shining eyes

Faces there are a lot of

It’s Springtime now

But nothing tops our Winter dreams

Sometimes it’s hard to keep up

I know so myself

It’s like reading a book

With the rest on the shelf

But when we stick to our plan

And catch up when we can

Make a difference

And work more

For the entire story

Then we stand to find

Way more glory

Who’s in it for the glory?

Is that not something to strive for?

Feelings outpouring

Joy to be alive more?

When health

Both mental and physical

are all that we drive for

No excess or greed

Because we

should not hide more than

We need for keeping

our own health thriving

But share ways to meet

the new day arriving

Like have an open heart

And work hard from the start

If you need a break

Then take one

Put health first, just be smart

Nourish your body

With nutrition and rest

Exercise as we work

Or take time when it’s best

Don’t push too hard

And take time to stretch

The result of our labour

Depends on

how we rise to the test

Without change day after day

the sun rises and sets

Outlasting humankind’s stay

(That’s a very safe bet)

As the Earth spins on it’s axis

For billions of years

How the sun rises and passes

with eternal gears

So we ace the test

No matter that the sun goes down

It’s for the best

Energy we give

comes back around

Revitalizing strength

A breath of fresh air

Returning awareness

The instinct to care

Support all life on Earth

All creatures, all humans

Cast aside pretenses that hurt

And together build new plans

The light would not leave

anyone out

So why would we fight

our bright sun about

Details that do no harm

Like a personal preference?

Why shade humanity’s charm?

Shine peace and love as a reference

Why fight for causes

That leave loving life out?

Time to cut our losses

Follow a much more kind route

I sure don’t like a storm cloud

Breathing over my warm shoulder

Threatening my peace

Making days feel so much colder

So I turn around to face it

I’ve learned to become bolder

And as the rain pours down

It makes the sun look truly golder

The terrible winds

Fade fast

The once threatening clouds

No longer smolder

I’ve learned to respect each

storm

as I have gotten older

Like I aim to respect each person

Each creature

Each tree and rock

It pays to respect everything

It shouldn’t come as a shock

It’s how we get past storms

And any kind of weather

It’s how we get through challenges 

And create a better world together

Just open our hearts

Find strength to accept

All truly caring ways

Smile and laugh

To dissipate the thickest haze

Follow a kind path

Open our senses

to a greater

The world should be a fair place

Let our innate compassion

No one listens to me

I have to say it again

No one seems to care

Unless I’m

screaming out in pain

Even then they might look past

Treat me like a trite outcast

Because “their” world

is theirs alone

In their world many have no home

They will never make an effort

And they say

MY past is checkered?!

Sure I made some mistakes

I was rather ill

Needed

Some retakes

I’ve always had good will

Nothing that can’t be explained

But never was

Because they never listen

Thinking they’re

above all of us

When it gets right down to it

They are the ones who are ill

Deny our needs

And try to kill

Anything in their way

Still

They never get their fill

Hard to change their mind

When they won’t listen

Unfortunate that it’s all of us

that end up missing

That turns the skies overcast?

Or is it all for the future?

I will not take a detour

I’m trying to help whoever I can

With everyone in the plan

But people put up barricades

Based on other perceptions

that they have

Stereotypes,

Assumptions and their own greed

That even they don’t understand

Cause misjudgement of my effort

That’s officially out of hand

So I’m blocked from helping

As I work to take a stand

You know we can’t lose

If we are fair in the battle

There seems to be a river

Running past me

It is the season that matters

I feel like I should just go through it

I don’t even know why it’s there

Maybe it’s protecting me

We each live our own day

That makes the day go slow or fast?

Do we all need a new cure?

When someone says they are

Doing the best that they can

We often should give them the

Benefit of the doubt

If they are excelling

We will notice that

And give them credit

where it is due

If it benefits the situation

we should give them the benefit of the doubt

But if they don’t seem to care

And they are being unfair

Time to call their bluff

Get tough and call them out

If they are abusing their privilege

Or committing sacrilege

And that’s what it’s all about

Then we can no longer give them

the benefit of the doubt

We have to call them out

Even if we have to shout

**

It seems to me

that it’s more than just chance

That I keep running into this circumstance

Maybe I’m so subtle with my outstanding views

That the abuser

And user

Gets kind of confused

And tries to pull one over on me

And then wonders why I choose

Not to offer the benefit of the doubt

But instead call them out

**

There may be a catch twenty-two

To what we do

Justice doesn’t always

arrive easily

If we call someone out

But others still offer

the benefit of the doubt

It could be pleasing

for the wrong-doer

To through your heart skewer

Their lies and their clout

Because they don’t give

a damn about

Justice anyway

**

They’d rather make you pay

For having your truthful say

Because they are cowards

Kindness they devour

And they try to get away

With whatever they can

Maybe they went too far

And they did not mean to

Maybe they misread the situation

And tried to come clean too

So when we call them out

They should know exactly 

what it’s all about

Share the truth

And stop abuse

And

No matter what we do

Be careful with

The benefit of the doubt
