In this season
There is a breeze on my face
Cold but not frozen
In this beautiful place

The rain drenches
Then stalls
The sun comes out higher than all
Above trees standing tall
Shining down energy
For the entire long haul

fast cars start to crawl
Signals change colours
Gridlock forms a wall
Such a jampacked day
We are on our way
We turn into
the busy shopping mall

We spend several minutes to find parking
Hear the beep from the fob
on the car keys
Head Into the stores to answer the call
Of the kids, parents
sisters and brothers
spouses, partners, significant others
Friends and acquaintances
in some circumstances
like teachers and bosses
Don’t take too many chances
The new year’s situation advances
And the big Christmas Day
is hours away

Each shopper dances
Through the store aisles
Between clothes racks
Toy shelves
And swirling crowds, walking miles
Get in line
With our items
Customers and cashiers all in trances
Debit or cash
Pray banks don’t crash
“Thank you, Merry Christmas”
Small gestures
A kind spirit enhances

With gifts that we bought
Back to our far spot
In the parking lot
Daytime is gone
It doesn’t stay long
If I said that this season is special
I wouldn’t be wrong

We fill up our trunk
With good stuff and junk
But all in the search
To share happiness
We hope that it’s known
In every home
And we are there now
We made it some how
We are so fortunate for our loved ones
Today’s work is done
The last shopping run

Unpack
Then gift wrap

Many treats
A bite to eat
Nice drink
Calmly think
Comfy seat
We both sink
A sparkling wink
We are on the brink
At another Christmas Eve
Intricate patterns that weave
Lights outside and on the tree
Now wait for Santa
