Even today
Where we are supposed to be
So very smart and understanding

I can not say
The things that I know to be
If it is far from all of their planning

Working each day of the week
For many years of my life
I work as smart as I can
As hard as I can
The higher ups still make up
most of the plans

And I understand
I can see the plan
But I can’t improve it
I just have to choose it
*
And if the plan is full of holes
I have to act fast to fill them all
*
Then if I am overextended
I don’t have much left
But they make me spend it
*
And I understand
I can see the plan
And I have to move it
Or I will lose it
*
Even today
With what we are led to believe
We have to guard our understanding
*
I have to say
What I hope for you and me
Is to get farther with better planning
