Frustration vs. Progress

I wrote this just now.

It is not thoroughly edited, but I hope that people will find some helpful thoughts here.

I can’t always live up to my own suggestions.  Sometimes I wish I could.

I do apply steady effort!

We carry about life with major, or at least significant, stressors and/or challenges.  This may affect many or all parts of daily life.

*

If we can learn not to attach or associate frustration with that part of our life, we can not only avoid the discomfort of frustration but we can also channel our energy towards other pursuits, and in fact directly related pursuits that can help us make progress in overcoming the original stressor or challenge, but just with a different approach.

+

Frustration can force energy towards a part of life, a person, place or thing, a situation and it can cause a short circuit that does damage.  A more calm approach, where things can be more thought out has more chance to make practical progress in overcoming a stressor or challenge.

*

Progress only arrives with time.  Frustration very rarely helps a situation.  We can avoid frustration by focussing on the processes of life.  Breathe deep; focus on breathing.  Try to make progress just in getting through the time and make more practical progress in goals, such as overcoming challenges and stressors, when it becomes possible across time.

*

Pay attention to the moment, but detach our focus from negative feelings that are associated with the moment.  If we are not focused on negativity, we can achieve better outcomes by channelling our energy instead into pathways that are more effective in goal-pursuit such as planning, reason and confidence.

*

Eventually, when we get through the challenges, we may discover success in a new goal, and realize that it is better than our original goal.  For example, achieving a calm, relaxed and even pleasurable state, is often better than doing damage and perpetuating an issue.  Frustration can force an action that leads to further problems, when if we just handle our time better in the first place, by being calm, reasonable and confident, we get past more problems and avoid the discomfort associated with them.
