Balancing the Work-Week

Here we go again

It’s another Monday

Climb out of my

garden-planter and

into hard-earned pay

*

Out on the road by 8:30

Start the show by 9

Done at least by 12 hours later

Mondays are a grind

*

Sure I get some down-time

Usually

And when we’re busy

The days go fast

As fast as it goes it’s abusive

Yet I crush it

And the more privileged

Rip off my cash

*

Tuesday’s not as bad

Don’t work the extra respite

People seem to think

hard work is easy

If they don’t do it

They just don’t get it

*

Wednesday is halfway through

But I’m about ready to retire

Where’s a day’s work

that’s more fair for us?

I want to tend to a few desires

*

I hope that the irons

That I have in the fire

Turn out to be protection well-forged

I’ve had an incredible life

And could achieve greater things

But the system

Won’t offer support

*

Welcome to the work-week

Where we all have

some hard days

When I get up and speak

It often seems

Out of place

*

So here I am

in my own private world

I know I could be

in a much worse way

The good thing for sure

Is that we can find the Cure

We just have to

get through

This Thursday

*

Friday arrives

Bees still leave their hives

Birds still have to leave their nests

We are all alive

Don’t want to take a dive

But I must

get this off my chest…

*

Our work should balance

With fair quality of life

That’s overall

Not just the working class

We should all strive

To share ways to thrive

Every day of the week

Should have

More health that lasts
