One Soul Calls

I will face the world

Like I did yesterday

And for all of my time before that

*

I will face life until the end comes

And when it gets replaced again

I will charge into

the quiet moments

Or the drone of the factory

I will stand up for all of the good things

And reason until we are free

For all our world and me

**

I will face the world

Like I do every day

And for all of the time they attack

*

I will face life

while the guitar strums

We won’t get phased

again

I will charge into

the quiet moments

Or the rock of the liberty

I will stand up for all of the good things

And reason until we are free

For all our world and me

**

Our goals are iron-clad

Hard-as-steel looks

as if we’re bad

Then we float away

Light as a feather

Or a cloud in the sky

Now bringing a storm…

*

They create a normal

They call it the truth

Let’s sit down

And talk about

why we’re confused

**

Does it look like we are stupid?

Because we are not

Stop acting like you know better

With culture that’s store-bought

We all experience life

But you cut our angles out

Just because you have more clout

But you only got that

By the chance of your route

Some work hard

Smart and strong

Those who choose to get along

**

Realize we all deserve chances

You got yours

Fair is fair

Until you hide the truth

and make rules

like there’s no love to spare

Your abuse

Is tight as a noose

While greed spreads lies

We all face the world

What about you?

Have you got ears and eyes?

*

And lips to speak kind words?

And share strategies for success?

To reason with other perspectives?

To find out what is best?

*

I see a child fighting for a toy

Yet he will always have a

Full toy box

The child he is fighting has

Much less

Besides broken branches

dead leaves & rocks

*

Greed and entitlement

drive us to fight

for stuff that’s meaningless

That chest will never be empty

While together our souls are best

We could all learn a lesson

if we would all confess

Get right down to the root of the matter

A Simple effort

affects all of the rest

*

Then I see a child fighting for a meal

His whole life

he has had to steal

The rest of the world punishes

this and that

But how else can a child survive?

With no money?

While others get fat?

Too big a problem?

Forget them all?

Our world and spirit

Are also small

We remain together for the long haul

So let’s face the world

One soul calls

**

I will face the world

Like there is no other day

And for all of the time we should have

*

I will face life to the beat of the drums

And when the rhythm stays again

I will charge into

the quiet moments

Or find peace for the sanctuary

I will stand up for all of the good things

And reason to keep us free

For all our world and me
